for mixed choir
duration ca 4 minutes
Haya! is a song to celebrate each day.
I wrote it in the Haya language, a language I invented for this specific purpose.
It ends with a few whispered words of Native American poetry;
The morning star is up. I cross the mountains
into the light of the sea.
To translate every single word from the Haya language is not possible. Though, a few of the key sentences is written into the score in English, so that the choir will understand. These sentences are also inspired by Native American poetry.

Haya! was composed for the Eric Ericson Award 2009, to be the compulsory piece in the finals.
Commissioned by the Swedish Radio P2 and Berwaldhallen.
