A carefully devised bordun. Chromatic strings of notes that fall and rise. These are the elements of this evensong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The quartet of saxophones \u2014 one alto, two tenors, and one baritone \u2014 makes a dark sound. I wanted to bring out the ability of the saxophones to steal near-soundlessly into and out of each other\u2019s notes.
