{"id":2753,"date":"2023-10-20T14:30:56","date_gmt":"2023-10-20T13:30:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/karin-rehnqvist.se\/eng\/?p=2753"},"modified":"2023-10-20T14:30:59","modified_gmt":"2023-10-20T13:30:59","slug":"rehnqvist-in-connection-with-mozart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karin-rehnqvist.se\/eng\/rehnqvist-in-connection-with-mozart\/","title":{"rendered":"Rehnqvist in connection with Mozart"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Two major choral works will be performed on Thursday 2 November 2023 in Helsingborg&#8217;s concert hall: a well-known Swedish contemporary composer in a concert program with the most brilliant composers of the late 18th century \u2013 <strong>Karin Rehnqvist<\/strong>, and <strong>Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart<\/strong> respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Karin Rehnqvist&#8217;s <em>Silent Earth<\/em> will be performed here together with W A Mozart&#8217;s <em>Requiem<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will be the second time the powerful climate oratorio <em>Silent Earth<\/em> is performed in this country (after the Swedish premiere in Berwaldhallen August 2022; the first premiere was in the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, January 2022). To <strong>Kerstin Perski&#8217;<\/strong>s lyrics, humanity is heard calling out to the destroyed Earth: &#8220;Save yourself from us! Save yourself from ourselves!\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And as one observes in Helsingborg: The step is not far to Mozart&#8217;s &#8220;Lord, have mercy&#8221; or the wild-tempered &#8220;Dies Irae&#8221; movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There will be a full lineup on Helsingborg&#8217;s concert hall stage this evening: <strong>Helsingborg&#8217;s Concert Choir<\/strong> (one of the few remaining in Sweden) together with the soloists <strong>Karolina Bengtsson<\/strong>, soprano, <strong>Emma Sventelius,<\/strong> mezzo-soprano, <strong>Martin Hultkvist<\/strong>, tenor, and <strong>Luthando Qave<\/strong>, bass, as well as <strong>Helsingborg&#8217;s Symphony Orchestra<\/strong>. All conducted by <strong>Peter Szilvay<\/strong> from Norway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Karin Rehnqvist (b. 1957): Silent Earth for mixed choir and symphony orchestra, with texts by Kerstin Perski.
