{"id":1819,"date":"2019-04-08T21:59:01","date_gmt":"2019-04-08T20:59:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karin-rehnqvist.se\/eng\/?p=1819"},"modified":"2019-04-08T22:01:44","modified_gmt":"2019-04-08T21:01:44","slug":"rehnqvists-music-in-a-ballet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karin-rehnqvist.se\/eng\/rehnqvists-music-in-a-ballet\/","title":{"rendered":"Rehnqvist&#8217;s music in a ballet"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>New Chamber Ballet<\/strong> presented in February 2019 the World Premiere of <em>Sanctum<\/em> by New York choreographer <strong>Miro Magloire<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Sanctum\u2019 describes either a sacred place, or a privately secluded one; and the ballet Sanctum vividly evokes both, powerfully brought to life by the music of two outstanding composers: <strong>Karin Rehnqvist<\/strong> and  <strong>Kaija Saariaho<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a rare collaboration, New Chamber Ballet joins forces with the stunning singers of the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Ekmeles vocal ensemble (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/ekmeles.com\" target=\"_blank\">Ekmeles vocal ensemble<\/a> to create a 70-minute celebration of sounds, bodies, and movement choreographed by Magloire in the company\u2019s trademark up-close, in-the-round style.<br><br><em>Sanctum<\/em> is bookended by vocal music: Saariaho\u2019s <em>Changing Lights<\/em> and <em>From The Grammar Of Dreams<\/em>, in which the singers also dance with the dancers; and Rehnqvist\u2019s <em>Davids Nimm<\/em>, a bone-chilling shepherdesses\u2019 call that closes the performance.
