Friday night, February 5, is day two of 2016 Explorer Festival featuring Kronos Quartet and guests. ‘Only sound remains’.
Place: Miner Auditorium SFJAZZ Center in San Francisco, California.

The concert includes a bunch of premieres:

– one US premiere: Karin Rehnqvist / All Those Strings!
features celebrated Finnish musician Ritva Koistinen performing with Kronos on the zither-like kantele

– one West Coast premiere: Aleksandra Vrebalov / Bubbles

– one San Francisco premiere: Nicole Lizée / The Golden Age of the Radiophonic Workshop [Fibre-Optic Flowers]

– one World premiere: Albert Behar / Lost Wax

Kronos Quartet ends the night with renowned Indian film music director Rahul Dev Burman‘s four-movement Suite, arranged for Kronos.
